Karen Bailey

Interim Director of Education

Karen Bailey will serve as Interim Director of Education. As former lead ECE teacher for the Skylark class, Karen is eager to bring her intimate knowledge of MPCS culture and extensive Waldorf and administrative skills to this new role. As a personal goal, Karen intends to learn the name of every child in attendance at the school. Her belief is that “all of our decisions and actions should be rooted in service to the children entrusted to our care.”

For those of you who do not know Karen, she moved from Tennessee to Colorado four years ago for one year of Eurythmy training, after which she worked at Shining Mountain Waldorf School and Boulder Waldorf Kindergarten. Karen has served as a kindergarten teacher for the last two years at Mountain Phoenix. Her credentials include four degrees earned while in Tennessee: two in Philosophy, one in Art and one in Architecture. She founded a Waldorf-inspired preschool center, where she taught and served as Administrator for ten years. Karen has two adult children and is looking forward to becoming a grandmother. She is a member of a steering committee forming a new Waldorf-inspired charter high school because she wants the children of Mountain Phoenix to continue receiving the wholeness and health that is the foundation of Waldorf education.
